Blaine and Swain: Where Did
the Varsity Go?
This year at Blaine the
Junior Varsity led the team while the varsity team rested for Swain (after
running tough kilometer repeats the morning before Blaine). At Swain only
five runners from Southwest were entered into the varsity race, and after
Zhao pulled out number four runner Erik DeLapp due to a cramp, their team
score became incomplete. Thus the Southwest men, like the women, were not
seen as a team at Swain.
Individually, however,
Forrest Tahdooahnippah continued his dominance, running to an incredibly
fast first-place finish at Swain. Dan Dickinson also ran very well. Sophomore
Gavin Weir led the team at Blaine with a gutsy performance against competitive
teams such as Hopkins. Gavin also led the Sophomore Boys team at Swain
to a second place finish in the Sophomore 4k race.
